We're still doing fine. Power came back on last night around 11 pm. Obviously there is still no cable or internet service.
We spent Monday cleaning up at Lauren's mom's house in Baytown. Her backyard included six acres that nestled up to Ceder Bayou. By Friday morning the six acres between the deck and the bayou were covered with several feet of water. By Saturday morning the house had taken on 8-12 inches of water. The devastation and loss in the city of Baytown is incredible.
In Houston we are dealing with shortages of gas and food as grocery stores and gas stations slowly open. I replenished our food stores today, but I still haven't found gas in our neighborhood.
I'm off the rest of the week as the school district stated that virtually every school had some sort of damage. I'm sure the focus of the psychological services department in which I work will shift to trauma recovery. Should be interesting.
On a lighter note, I received plenty of updates from Saturday's game. Sounds like a solid effort from the Huskers.
Anyway, thanks for the well wishes and here's to hoping that cable is restored before the VT game.
